Upgrading to Windows 11

Support for Windows 10 ends on October 14, 2025   

Learn how to upgrade your computer to Windows 11 to keep it secure and supported.

System Requirements Check

Before upgrading, make sure your PC meets the minimum system requirements for Windows 11:

  • Processor: 1 GHz or faster with 2 or more cores on a compatible 64-bit processor
  • RAM: 4 GB or more
  • Storage: 64 GB or more
  • System Firmware: UEFI, Secure Boot capable
  • TPM: Trusted Platform Module (TPM) version 2.0
  • Graphics Card: DirectX 12 compatible with WDDM 2.0 driver
  • Display: >9” with HD Resolution (720p)

If your ÈËÆÞÓÕ»ó provided computer is not compatible with Windows 11, contact the CUS Help Desk to discuss replacement options.

Pre-upgrade Checklist!

🔄 Backup Your Data

Before upgrading, backup your important files!

  • On a ÈËÆÞÓÕ»ó primary machine, check that Crashplan backups have completed 
  • Or, use an external hard drive 
  • Or, use a cloud storage service like Google Drive

🛠️ Run outstanding Windows Updates

Make sure your current Windows 10 is up-to-date:

  1. Go to SettingsUpdate & SecurityWindows Update
  2. Click Check for updates and install all available updates.

Ready to upgrade to Windows 11?

Using Windows Update

  1. Go to SettingsUpdate & SecurityWindows UpdateWindows Setting Screen

  2. If your PC is eligible, you’ll see an option to upgrade to Windows 11. Note: You must install any outstanding Windows 10 updates before the upgrade option will appear.

  3. Click Download and install

  4. Follow the on-screen instructions
