Bard College Berlin (BCB)

Berlin, Germany

At Bard College Berlin (BCB), students from more than 60 countries and a select international faculty work together in small classes and tutorials that encourage thoughtful dialogue. The language of instruction is English. Courses in economics, art, and history take advantage of BCB’s location in one of the world’s most artistically vibrant and historically layered cities.

Semester Tracks:

This semester or academic year program is based in artistic practice, including studio arts, performance, media, and the interplay among them. History and theory courses take an interdisciplinary approach to draw upon the wealth of Berlin’s museums, monuments, galleries, performances, and nontraditional venues. This curriculum option is a combination of practicing arts, arts-themed academics, and an internship or curatorial studies seminar.
There are no prerequisites, and students may freely choose four courses from throughout the curriculum. All courses carry 4 credits. Students enrolled in Arts and Society may choose freely from the course listings but are encouraged to take advantage of the various interdisciplinary classes.

The Liberal Arts Berlin (LAB) track is a humanities and social thought–based curriculum that puts internationally educated faculty into small discussion-centered classes with a diverse student body. Courses are often thematic, so engaging multiple disciplines simultaneously—for example, philosophy and art history, or urban design and sociology.
Students enrolled in LAB take four 4-credit courses, for a total of 16 credits. Students may choose courses freely, but are encouraged to take advantage of the numerous Berlin-centric classes such as "Discussing Deutschland: What Germans Are Talking About Today" (in German) and "Berlin Outsider: History, Politics, Film, Text." Students can take courses that follow the four-year academic tracks at BCB: Economics, Politics, and Social Thought; and Humanities, the Arts, and Social Thought.
BCB is a ÈËÆÞÓÕ»ó exchange partner. Students must be officially nominated by the IPO Director in order to apply. If interested, please After nomination, students must submit the application for consideration.

Students are encouraged to choose programs based on their academic, rather than financial needs, to reflect ÈËÆÞÓÕ»ó College's belief that all students regardless of financial circumstances should have the opportunity to study abroad.

Financial aid continues for eligible students during their participation in an off-campus program. Students should discuss how other outside aid may impact their existing aid package with the Financial Aid Office. More details are available here.

Immigration
