Psychology

Many of the “additional courses” listed below should be courses that count toward distribution requirements (Group 1, 2, or 3) and/or the six-unit allied field requirement for the psychology major.

Courses taken abroad are routinely approved as psychology electives and allied field courses, but are rarely approved as substitutes for core courses or PSY 348. In most cases, the latter set of courses should be taken at ÈËÆÞÓÕ»ó.

It is also possible to study abroad in semester 3 or 5. Studying abroad in semester 6 is not recommended because the junior qualifying exam is typically taken then and is administered in person. Prior to sitting for this exam, students must have completed five units in psychology, including PSY 348 and at least one core course. Students studying abroad should plan carefully to ensure that they have completed these prerequisites before semester 6.
